At Extra, I shipped email search end to end across iOS, web, and backend, and built the framework the AI assistant uses to take actions on inboxes.
Email search
I built email search across Extra’s iOS app, web app, and Python backend. People might remember a sender, part of a subject, or an attachment rather than the exact words in a message. I combined keyword ranking with semantic retrieval and evaluated where relevant messages appeared in the results.
Evaluating search
I evaluated where relevant emails appeared in the search results. Retrieving the right message somewhere in the list was not enough; its position determined how much searching the person still had to do.
AI assistant actions
I built the framework the AI assistant uses to safely take actions on inboxes, connecting its language-based interaction to changes in the email environment.
Account support and filtering
I also shipped multi-account Gmail support and deployed the ML pipeline behind smart filtering.
