Code4Cause

I co-founded Code4Cause to help more girls enter computing. For our GreenSight program, I designed the curriculum, recruited team members, coordinated the program, and taught predictive modeling and academic writing.

01

Why I started

I kept going to hackathons and noticing how few girls were there. I wanted more people to build with. I co-founded Code4Cause with Risha Rao and Sanvi Bharadwaj in 2025 to help girls get started in computer science. I served as CEO from May 2025 to May 2026.

02

Building and teaching GreenSight

I recruited team members and coordinated GreenSight, our first four-week program. I designed its curriculum and taught predictive modeling and academic writing. The students produced a research paper recommending tree-planting locations in the Bay Area and shared it with local city council members.

03

Teaching students to explain their results

The students started without coding experience, so the curriculum moved from Python basics to data analysis and predictive modeling. I taught academic writing alongside the code so they could explain their tree-planting recommendations in a research paper for local city council members.

04

From one program to an international organization

GreenSight was our first program. Afterward, Code4Cause focused on helping girls build technical skills, confidence, and a path into computer science. The organization now reports more than 100 chapters in over eight countries.

05

Digital access in Afghanistan

Code4Cause worked directly with Roya Mahboob of the Digital Citizen Fund, Natalie Brunell of Women in Bitcoin, and Speed Wallet to help women in Afghanistan set up Bitcoin and USDT wallets and receive income through online education work. This was part of a wider effort that has reached thousands of women; that figure describes the wider effort, not Code4Cause alone.
